Look at this picture.
You can tell that everything the fortune teller on the Salvador town square predicted is turning out to be true. You can tell I’m winning her heart over with this romantic meal on the beach after she showed me some of her favourite local sites. You can tell she likes my suit, and that she thinks even my feet are good-looking now that I’ve taken off my shoes. You can tell that my feet don’t smell. You can tell she’s never been wooed like this before – with watermelon, coconut, exotic snacks and fine imported wine.
You can tell she’s a huge admirer of The Dave and has been following my work since I started out as a sports journalist – aka #MyBigBreak.
You can tell she is going to be the mother of my children, that this is a love that’s going to last, that she is going to follow me wherever I go. You can tell we’re going to be the next Kim and Kanye, that I’ll put a massive rock on her finger on top of the Eiffel Tower and have a very expensive wedding in a picturesque Italian village overlooking the Mediterranean. You can tell my fame will make her famous and that we’re going to be a very powerful power couple with our own reality show. You can tell she is going to give me Ferraris for my birthdays, and that we’ll have pads in LA, Vegas, NYC, London, Cape Town and – of course – Kampala in my birth country Uganda.
You can tell that the moment in this picture will be ruined by the paparazzi soon, that we’ll have to head back to our hotel room – the only place where we’ll have some privacy here in Salvador before we head off to other Brazilian cities for the final rounds of football here in Brazil.
You can tell this woman finds me irresistible. She’ll always find me irresistible.
She’s just playing hard to get.
