On the #LoveChange Showcase: Ryan Sandes’ 100 miler visor

So how does one become a trail runner? Well, in Ryan Sandes’ case, it just kind of happened.

For him, it all started when he went to Knysna with friends who’d entered to run the half-marathon. He just went along for the party but ended up drinking too much and entering the whole-marathon while suffering from a hangover. And, as he says, he hasn’t stopped running since.

Ryan is married to Vanessa Haywood, an actress and Miss South Africa finalist. Lucky for Ryan, his beautiful wife is also interested in endurance sport and doesn’t think he’s “crazy”, well, that’s what he says.

Ryan brought us two special gifts to display on the #LoveChange Showcase. The first, a t-shirt he wore on a 7 day race in Madagascar, is being donated on his wife, Vanessa’s request because apparently it’s not smelling that fresh anymore. The second gift is the visor that Ryan wore during the Leadville 100 mile trail.
