What it does
HabitBull is a feature-rich habit planner and goal tracker, for IOS and Android devices, that helps you tick little boxes of achievement.
Free to use, with a premium option, HabitBull is a simple and effective way to break or make new habits.
You can set goals for fitness, creativity, home renovations, savings and house cleaning. Inspired by Seinfeld’s Productivity Secret, HabitBull helps you create chains of success across customised calendars and goals.
How does it work?
You create a habit or goal, by tapping on the + and answering a series of questions. These include “What would you like to change in your life right now?” and “How would you like to track your new habit?”
Once you’ve chosen how often you track this – every day, every other day, once a week – you can add a description, a colour (we’re fans of Egregious Eggplant) and a deadline.
The app automatically sets the optimal 66-day duration, but you can set long-term goals too. You can track your goal on a calendar, by tapping the day and creating the “chain”.
If you fail, the chain is broken. If you succeed, you can admire the beautiful graphs and statistics that evolve out of your hard work.
Below the calendar you’ll find stats, such as your longest success streak and your success percentage, plus a motivational quote.
How does it help?
HabitBull is ideal for people who want a simple and effective way of creating habits and goals.
The notifications will remind you to stick to your goals, while the graphs and quotes will inspire you to keep going.
As Jerry Seinfeld explains about his theory: “After a few days you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. Your only job next is to not break the chain.”
HabitBull helps you create chains that you won’t want to break. If you’re not inspired by graphs and quotes, you may be inspired by the tangible view of how well you’re doing as you build your future.
Conclusion
HabitBull is fun to play with, especially as you move out of your first week and see how well you’re doing.
The free version lets you track up to five goals. If you upgrade, you can track up to 100 life-changing plans.
HabitBull’s plusses are: simple, easy, visually appealing, manageable and accessible.
The minuses are: limited features for the free version, too simple for some users, quotes and notifications are slightly buggy.
What other users say
“It has all the requirements I need for a basic Habit Tracker app! It gives you every possible option needed to set a habit. Very nice UI as well. Although I’d like it if the font was bolder, kind of hard to see. No other complaints 🙂 I’ve found the perfect Habit app!”
