Easter eggs: Brace yourself for the sugar rush

The Easter weekend is coming up and for some families that means an overload of chocolate. We asked some of the parents on Twitter to help us by submitting their best tips on how to manage the inevitable Easter sugar rush.

Here are some of the tips we received; hopefully they’ll help you.

@CindyAlfino
After the hunt on Sunday morning they can choose 1 egg to eat. Then maybe 1 or 2 more later but that’s it.

@nikkilincoln
Best advice Cindy! My mom used to do that with us. Max 2 eggs on the day.

@Raising_Men

I give bran muffins before & after their feast and lots of water!

@Nicki_Dadic
Teach kids rule #1: everything in moderation. I tell mine that we’ll save some stuff for later etc.

@CindyAlfino
Riya gets far too emotional & would end up puking if we didn’t stop & teach them to do it in moderation.

Full tummies before any eggs are received would ensure they eat less.

The other alternative is to take the opportunity to educate children on the importance of giving and sharing good fortune. It may be a nice opportunity to encourage your kids to donate a portion of their egg stash to a charitable organization.
