Cricketing legend, Pat Symcox, was a right-arm off-spin bowler during the so-called “golden era” of South African cricket. He is a co-holder of the highest ever ninth-wicket partnership of 195 runs and also has a Test century to his name. We look back on that special day at the Wanderers when he made his first 100:
Pat is also a very successful in the real estate business (he is “bowling over the South Coast property market”) and an amazingly entertaining talker. He had us in stitches with his stories about Jonty Rhodes and Fanie de Villiers. The time the team met, her “high worshipness”, the Queen of England was especially hilarious:
In 1998 Pat Symcox and Mark Boucher set a new world record partnership of 195 runs against Pakistan. To commemorate the occasion a painting was commissioned. There are only 196 prints of this painting, Pat Symcox had Nelson Mandela sign his print and it is now on the #LoveChange Showcase.
* Every week, a guest on The Dan Nicholl Show donates an item for display on the #LoveChange Showcase, which is a collection of memories and Change Moments. These items tie into BrightRock’s and the Change Exchange’s #LoveChange philosophy. BrightRock are the official sponsors of the show. Remember to tune in on SuperSport 1 every Wednesday at 19:00 to see Dan interviewing his Bright and Beautiful guests. And we’ll of course also be sharing some more highlights here on the Change Exchange.
