Futebol! Fútbol! Fotball! Voetbal! Fußball! Whatever you may call it, wherever in the world you may be, football is the Beautiful Game that stirs the passions of millions.
And every four years, those passions surge into a frenzy of flag-waving and excitement that grips the whole of our football-shaped planet.
In 2010, it was our turn to welcome the world with painted faces and a blare of vuvuzelas. Now it’s Brazil that gets to make the big noise, to the rattle-and-shake rhythms of the caxirola, the official musical instrument of this global contest.
We don’t have a national squad to rally behind this time round, but the good news is that we do have our very own Man of the Match.
His name is Dave, he’s a TV sports reporter who’s just scored his big career break, and we’d love you to follow his adventures on Dave’s Big Break – Brazil, a bright new TV and online series from BrightRock:
Starring comedian David Kibuuka, of Late Nite News fame, Dave’s Big Break – Brazil will feature daily sports reports on the eNCA channel (403 on dSTV) , and a buzzing social media stream that will chronicle our hero’s epic journey to the other side of the globe.
You’ll see Dave fumble, stumble, hustle and hassle as he encounters an array of crazy characters, obstacles, and challenges that – we hope – will encourage and equip him to learn to love change.
Join us to see Dave Strutting his stuff between 11 June and 13 July on eNCA 17:50, 18:50 or 19:50. There’ll be rebroadcasts every morning at 7:20. And may the best team win!
