Johannesburg, 14 February 2024 – DHL Stormers tighthead prop, Neethling Fouché, has teamed up with needs-matched life insurer, BrightRock, to bring fans a fun new perspective on the team, the game, and how the players navigate change, in rugby and in life. Taking its inspiration from Zach Galifianakis’ acclaimed comedic YouTube series, Between Two Ferns, this tongue-in-cheek new series – called Between the Poles – features a deadpan and sometimes acerbic Fouché as the host.
Between the Poles delves into the lives of a host of Fouché’s fellow DHL Stormers teammates, giving fans a glimpse into their camaraderie and change-room banter. Their conversations cover a host of topics and offer lots of entertainment and laughter, while also letting fans get to know more about the players’ lives and their personal journeys to success.
Fouché, who was recently praised by DHL Stormers Forwards Coach Rito Hlugwani for his leadership both on and off the field, is a natural in front of the cameras. In fact, he has indicated that he aspires to a future career in the media space once the time eventually comes for him to hang up his rugby boots.
“I have really enjoyed this opportunity from BrightRock to get in front of the cameras and try to develop a character I have been thinking about for a long time. It gives me a chance to have a bit of fun with my teammates away from the field and, hopefully, it entertains our fans too! I promise I’m not this nasty guy off the field usually!” explained Fouché.
#LoveChange on and off the field
Produced by BrightRock, proud associate sponsor to the DHL Stormers, the series offers an opportunity for the brand to reach fans with its Love Change message. According to Deputy CEO-Suzanne Stevens, ‘Love Change’ is all about finding and embracing the opportunities inherent in life’s change moments.
“At BrightRock, our purpose is to help people navigate change in their lives. We do this through our unique, needs-matched life insurance products, which are designed to change with people’s changing needs as their lives change,” she says. “We’ve always believed rugby is the perfect metaphor for our message – the outcome of the game is so often determined by how the players respond to the unpredictable bounce of that odd-shaped rugby ball. In rugby, and in life, it’s all about how you play the bounce! Neethling’s planned transition from rugby star to comedy host is an especially fun and engaging demonstration of this philosophy.”
Join BrightRock and Neethling Fouché on an entertaining, laugh-a-minute journey that celebrates those big change moments on and off the field. For more information, visit BrightRock’s social media pages (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) or follow the hashtag #LoveChange.
