Healthy food doesn’t have to mean bland flavours, unpronounceable ingredients or a plate full of steamed greens. Chef Reuben Riffel spices up some super foods in this instalment of Kitchen Closed with Dan Nicholl by preparing a mouth-watering Asian-inspired salmon and broccoli dish.

Reuben shot to fame when his restaurant, Reuben’s in Franschhoek, won both the Eat Out ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and ‘Chef of the Year’ awards in 2006 – just a year after opening its doors. He’s opened five more restaurants since, has been a guest on The Martha Stewart Show and The Today Show, and penned three cookbooks.
