As any dad will tell you, in-between telling you what wood you should use on the braai, and who the coach should have played at the game on Saturday, and how much better pop music was in his day, being a dad is a full-time job.
It calls for constant vigilance, extraordinary dedication, saintly patience, superhuman strength, a rare combination of tenderness and fortitude, and an uncanny ability to tell terrible jokes that make you slap your forehead and groan.
True, the really tough responsibilities in the household may be the province of mom, but a good dad knows it’s his duty to take care of everything else, and above all, to take care of you. So give dad a break this Sunday. As he’ll be only too happy to tell you, he deserves it!
